6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo is an alloy primarily used for its high strength and toughness, with its good creep resistance of up to 1000F. This alpha-beta titanium alloy is capable of being heat treated to high strengths in greater sections sizes than 6Al-4V. 6-2-4-2 forged material has enhanced strength, ductility and a combination of enhanced low-cycle fatigue and fatigue-crack growth resistance.
This material has forging and machining characteristics similar to those of Ti 6Al-4V. This grade is specified more frequently for aircraft engine manufacturers, as this material is the mostly used high temperature alloy in jet engine compressions and airframe structures.
