Tungsten Carbide

Tungsten, a rare metal,  is one of the toughest elements that we find in nature. This is due to its density and high melting point.

Tungsten is 50 percent heavier than lead and twice the weight of steel. Tungsten is added to increase strength, hardness, elasticity and tensile strength.

Tungsten Carbide is a called a hard metal, although its a composite material with a very high hardness compared to other metals. Typically the hardness is 1600 HV. In its basic form tungsten is a fine gray powder but can be pressed and formed into different shapes.

Tungsten is an ultra fine grain material with very good wear resistance.

Tungsten carbide has a melting point of 5,200°F and a boiling point of 10,830°F.
